Abstract

This research report presents shipment volume and value forecast and recent quarter review of the Taiwanese desktop PC industry. The report includes desktop PC shipment volume, value, ASP, shipment by tier and maker, product mix analysis, as well as breakdowns by customer, shipment destination, and assembly location. The content of this report is based on primary data obtained through interviews with desktop PC makers. The report finds that the Taiwanese desktop PC industry's shipment volume and value which saw both sequential and year-on-year growth in the fourth quarter of 2010, witnessed declines in the first quarter of 2011. Intel's Sandy Bridge chipset design error that has delayed new product release schedule affected the industry's year-on-year and sequential growth in the first quarter of 2011.primarily due to the deferred replacement demand. It also finds that China once again became the industry's largest shipment destination in the first quarter of 2011, followed by North America. It is forecasted that the industry's shipment volume will rebound in the second quarter of 2011 and gradually grow upwards throughout the second half of 2011.
